Above Lip Wrinkle Cream

A novel written about the retreat of the Pieta, the night of Holy Saturday in Molfetta

by prof. Trident Cosmo.
.
ancient custom, which attracts attention and curiosity of fans molfettesi the traditional processions of Holy Week, is one that occurs every year, when near Piazza Mazzini, in front of "Italy Bar (formerly coffee Chezzelìcchie where once you taste a delicious ice cream, the "spumoni") the holders of the arch Death shoulder with the change of the priests to return to the church group of Mercy, Holy Saturday.
.
Holy Saturday 2005
.
This is a practice adopted March 10, 1901 by the Society of Pius, under the priory Pansini Bonifacio. It reads, in fact, in the resolution:
"The congregation, seen the President, whereas the accompanying major honor the congregation and the solemn ceremony is admired by the public, acting in that year (1901) statue of Our Lady of Sorrows is carried on shoulders by the priests in the procession on Holy Saturday ... rated by the call they found one hundred and three affirmative votes and two negative. So this year is decided by four priests carry on their shoulders the Blessed Virgin in procession on Holy Saturday and the retreat of it properly. " The custom is
was explicitly stated in the "Laws" the arch, which entered into force January 31, 2000 and supplemented by subsequent changes made on July 9, 2005 by Archbishop Luigi Martella, being the arch Dr. Prior. Francesco Stanzione.
.
Holy Saturday 2005
.
We read in Title IX, art. 48:
"Dante The stretch of road between the house number 91 and the angle Vico Giovine, where the priests, which will normally be delivered the sacred image of the Pieta, do not show up at the exchange rate, is attributable to the holders of the third section. These, however, conclude the procession from the corner Vico Giovine the Church of the Purgatory. "
That practice attracts the attention of molfettesi that crowd in Piazza Mazzini and along Via Dante to see "visually" disabled priests, dressed in clerical garb, white surplice and red stole, and the bearers of Death temporarily forced out of their role, they just hold the four forks, ready to intervene at every change of "breath" of priests and for every occasion ..
to be said for the record, unlike the brother of Death which is scheduled for the "compass" (Draw the holders), there will be no draw for aspiring priests carriers. These, in fact, participating in the procession, they could offer their willingness to bring the Pietà.
also provide "ongoing" to compose the quadrille (four carriers) more similar to shoulder height (u musceche). All with the coordination of the Ecclesiastical Assistant of the Brotherhood. Nothing, therefore, predetermined or preordained, nothing "bush", no "handling".
The atmosphere is full of pathos. Who attends the edges of course Dante is nestled into long silences and religious, as confirmed by the measured tread of the priests-bearers in a particular scenario and evocative, sometimes made more dramatic by the moon, illuminating the earth browning and extending over the sea a shimmering veil of silver (think of the port of Molfetta), seems to want to emphasize the ritual by which it was d 'Anyway, it is, if the sky is clear, always mate: the fact Easter is celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox (March 21), according to the rule established by the Council of Nicaea (now Iznik in 130 km from Istanbul) in 325 AD If the full moon happens on March 20, the next one will occur on April 18, and if this day was a Sunday-by-case should wait until the following Sunday, ie 25 April. The date of Easter, therefore, depends on our "Sister Moon", as he called San Francisco.
"What dost thou, moon, sky ...?" Says Leopardi, imagining that the pastor fixed the vagabond wandering in the sky. A scene in Piazza Mazzini, it is conceivable that both the moon, a surprise seeing as its slow movement, to ask: "What are you doing, man on earth?"
I'd like to think it used to see him run, be pleased that the man stopped his run and walk slowly, to follow the disporsi Passion and Resurrection.
But we ordinary mortals do is contemplate his "eternal lonely wanderings" through the streets of heaven, where the Time stretches of human and eco fights it off.
However, there are comments, sometimes irreverent, to those who attend that particular time of the procession made only as folklore, which goes beyond any poetic reflection or pious.
Moreover, in a democracy there is freedom of expression "is the word civilization," said Thomas Mann (The Magic Mountain).
fact we hear phrases like this, said quietly: "How the paren bedd prìevete sòtt'alla Médonne" (How to look good priests under the Madonna), the ca prìevete Stonne drei nén sùezze zo (priests who are not behind are equal in height) in the moménde èmmènghene nderre the Médonne (at the time they drop the Madonna), the Fratiello Fascene mélesénghe Quenne sotte Stonne the prìevete (the brothers make bad blood when we are under the mercy of the priests); the ngevòlene prìevete pe ago cammenè the Médonne (it takes the priests to raise the pitch) about the farmyards dàieche Médonne the relevant onna the prìevete giùvene viecchio and not (I say that Madonna should bring the young priests and the elderly) ; Quenne the prìevete Vonne below the stands Médonne de Chieng (when priests come under the weeping Madonna ends); the return of the Pietà by priests to the holders of Death: The prìevete s'onne Steng of the relevant Médonne, mo Vonne innd'alla chiéseie to prepare fenzeiòene (priests are tired of wearing the Madonna, now go to church to prepare the function of the Resurrection).
.
Retreat 2006 at 14.45
(Unique and memorable)
.
But beyond the outward appearance of the tradition, that certainly has its influence on the sensitivity of mind of Molfetta, we wonder what the religious significance may have lead to shoulder the statue of the Pieta by the clergy.
The answer is subjective.
I think the priests, carrying on their shoulders the statue of the Pietà in its final stage of the procession of Holy Week, people want to raise the outside at any moment - which is a procession, but as an expression and not as pious folk tradition or, worse, tourist curiosity - at a time inside, one of Easter to be relived in its meaning of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.
"in the Lord who opens her heart / with Mr. rise again. " These lines turn a popular song written by Alessandro Manzoni in 1812, entitled "The Resurrection", in which the verb rise again emphasizes the dependence of our existence from the life of Christ.
There is rebirth without the sacrifice of the Cross, there is no salvation without Christ. E 'for excellence in the Christian message, which is renewed each year by the repetition of the rite of pain, blood, death and resurrection of Christ.

Archbishop Pasquale Gioia, a bishop who did talk about

by Prof. Cosmo Trident.
.
As already written in another post on this website ("An unprecedented event in the Holy Week Molfetta, 1934), Archbishop Pasquale Gioia, who held the our diocese from 1922 to 1935, he was a bishop and strict (not for nothing, before being elevated to the episcopal dignity, had been a monk of the Somaschi).
.
.
primarily concerned to keep his flock away from the mistakes that threatened him, the bishop undertook to present Christian doctrine in a manner suited to the needs of the times, the speeches and writings were the peaceful weapons he uses and that it often makes nell'interlocutore feelings of disapproval. In a pastoral letter of December 12, 1926, addressed to pastors, prayer with wide dissemination, its point of view on the processions. Here is the text:
.
church laws must be observed. And by the Rectors and Spiritual Fathers should also be noted by many confraternities, striving to return to the religious processions, as we are able to do in the Eucharistic procession and correcting them is opposed to the traditions of the Catholic Church and the same reason. Suffice it to mention the anomaly of the procession of the Madonna and Christ died in the early morning hours of Holy Saturday. Nothing could be more absurd. In this matter we will not allow others to enter because it's all that matters depends on the Ecclesiastical Authority. So we all know that we will not tolerate being exposed to the veneration of the faithful certain statues and pictures of paper or other that neither pity nor art can tolerate in the house of God Who will govern otherwise meeting oltrecchè punishment, a reprimand that will remain in the acts of the Holy tour.
.
Another decision taken at the beginning of Gioia Bishop of the thirties, then thwarted in time, was to be celebrated in the Church of Purgatory and that of Santo Stefano, by their archconfraternities, the Mass in the "Last Supper "Holy Thursday, but without the repose urn of the Blessed Sacrament, that is, without putting Jesus in the "tomb". This is because the people who visited the churches and the Purgatory of St. Stephen, to admire the statues and comment on the decoration, it distracted from giving a fitting tribute of prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The bishop's decision was wise, if we think that today's visit to the "graves" became, with few exceptions, a real uproar: a crowd rowdy, irreverent moving from church to church, gay groups, without any consideration to the sacred site.

"Pilgrimage of the Diocese in Rome, with Mons.Gioia, in celebration of the Jubilee of the Redemption of 1933.

.
addition, the bishop was an admirer and connoisseur of Gregorian chant and demanded that all priests, including the elderly, they were aware, he himself taught the seminarians, then subjecting them to tests of theory and making them perform in public executions.
His death was sudden, as recalled by Archbishop Leonardo Minervini, of blessed memory.
the morning of that fateful March 31 Joy Bishop was in the Cathedral to attend the Eucharistic liturgy of the fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare). The celebration took place regularly, there was the Lenten sermon with the memory the souls in purgatory and the singing of the "Dies Irae". Towards the end of the Mass, the bishop, and always scrupulously careful to mention the master of ceremonies, was behaving strangely. Something prevented him from continuing the ritual, he would sit and barely gave the final blessing. Returning to bishop, even with the sumptuous robes prelate, he fell fainting to the ground. It was a moment of great consternation among the seminarians and young priests. Meanwhile, in the Cathedral was celebrating Mass at 12 o'clock. In the choir there was a doctor, dr. Jerome Gadaleta which called urgently bishop, after a brief visit to the bishop and he had administered first aid, made a grim diagnosis: angina pectoris. " On a deck chair Joy Bishop was taken in his bedroom, occurred while he was also curate the canon of the Cathedral, Father Mauro Amato (incidentally, I do not understand why the bishop has not been taken to hospital, given his serious condition! ). Dr. Gadaleta returned in the afternoon, but finds the conditions of the invalid, suggesting to those who crowded the entrance corridor that, unless an unlikely reversal, to the early hours of the next day to Archbishop Gioia, would be the end. In fact, at dawn on April 1, the bishop passed away, leaving the faithful of the three dioceses in disbelief and all citizens of Molfetta Terlizzi and Giovinazzo.

.
The Editor of "Light and Life," in commemoration of the late Bishop proposed to erect a worthy remembrance on the grave in which, in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, had been buried her mortal remains.
Contributions and offered several, put together the money to erect the funeral stele, designed and built by sculptor Giulio Molfettese Cozzoli. The epitaph was composed by prof. Maurilio De Rosa, professor of letters to the Regional Seminar. This is the text:
. In peace
Christi hic quiescit / Paschalis JOY crs. / Melphict Ep. Terlit. ac Iuven. / On piandus in Aevum / ut hoc here delubrum / scholar populi concursu s fundamentis excitavit / vote capiat exequialia / mind secunda ac cords inoblito fidelium / Obiit Kalen. April. MCMXXXU
.
Translation: In the peace of Christ here rests Pasquale Gioia Bishop of Molfetta Terlizzi and Giovinazzo Somasca Regular of the Congregation. Deserves to be supported forever, for he this time with love when the people rose from the ground up to receive votes and prayers with loving heart and mindful of the faithful. He died on 1 April 1935.
.
.
On 2 April 1935 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Molfetta Terlizzi and Giovinazzo Bishop Marcello Mimmi, Archbishop of Bari was he who passed the committee to erect the funeral stele and who completed the initiative. In fact, two years after the death of Archbishop Gioia, April 7, 1937, was inaugurated on "worthy memory", during a solemn Mass in suffrage, chaired by the new bishop, Achille Salvucci (December 1935 - March 1978). In addition to the people of the region was attended by nine bishops, the clergy of the three dioceses of the Episcopal seminarians and the region, members of Catholic Action, the authorities of all levels. After the Mass, held the commemorative speech by Bishop Francesco Maria Sanna, bishop of Gravina, talking about the life of a dear departed friend, which Bishop was Joy.
.
On May 9, 1935, at 18, in the Church of Purgatory, on the initiative of the Theologian Rev. Don Thomas Maglione, a solemn funeral was held in memory of Archbishop Gioia, in the presence of a large number of brothers and Death in charge of the administration headed by Maria Corrado Poli (Component 1, James Palumbo, Joseph Mezzina 2nd Component). At the funeral ceremony also attended Catholic Action.

How To Tell If I Have A Missouri Hunters Safety

Lenten Fasting and historical noterelle

by prof. Trident Cosmo.
.
.
As every year the Church during the Lenten Season, invites all Christians to fast and abstinence in order to live more intensely the paschal mystery.
Today, we know, fasting is discovered for several reasons. It 's a measure healthy for our bodies weighed down by consumerist attitude become increasingly evident in rich countries: as you eat more than is required by the body, then in the name of aesthetics and physical well-being going for diets and fasts. Still, there is one who fasts for political reasons, fasting is so ostentatious and shown, very eloquently made by the media as an instrument of pressure and struggle.
this time of fasting should not be blamed, but rather as to reflect and bring out clearly the specificity of Christian fasting. Fasting and abstinence, along with prayer, almsgiving and other works of charity, belong always to the penitential practices of the Church: these, in fact, the permanent need Christian's conversion to the kingdom of God, asking forgiveness for sins, imploring the aid of God, of thanksgiving and praise to the Father. To do this we need to know how to say 'no', do the work of resistance and struggle, to know how to defeat something even if all this good life and not just in terms of thought, but also with the body.
Speaking of fasting, I wish to bring some noterelle history, written by prof. Giuseppe Poli, Professor of Modern History at the University of Bari, who dutifully thank you.
In 1537 he was invited to a Lenten preacher site (the learned and talented speaker, with its compelling and persuasive arguments, explaining Lent through an uncommon eloquence) which resulted in the Municipality of Molfetta a charge of about 10 ducats. Based on current prices at the time, that amount was equivalent to the value of a quarter of a vineyard with olive trees-almond trees: that is the best quality of land that could then be traded. The amount claimed for the Lenten season was all-encompassing as was necessary for his stay, from wood to heat the food for subsistence. A glance at the statement of charges, one is struck by the frugality of the diet which he was subjected throughout the period of Lent. With regular monotony of her two daily meals consisted of a portion of oily fish (for mostly sardines), some 'bread (not always wheat) and vegetables (lettuce, fennel, tops, etc..) all washed down with a modest amount of wine. This diet was started on February 14, Ash Wednesday, and ended only at Easter that year fell on 1 April. Only at that time our Lenten preacher had a chance to change his meal and he was offered the kid meat, eggs and cheese, as well as the usual quantity of wine. For on Easter Monday he still ate eggs and cheese, and so in the following days, alternating the eggs to the meat, until next Thursday when they probably departed from Molfetta.
As frugal, treatment reserved for the preacher must not forget that still represented a privileged position that many of his contemporaries will certainly have envied. If the simplicity of the diet was required by common religious and ecclesiastical status, it should be pointed out that fasting and abstinence were the permanent condition in a society that was measured daily with food problems.
Fortunately, not all touched the same fate and some evaded the fate of poor nutrition and inadequate. So between papers kept in local archives, prof. Poly has been able to read a joker that during Lent he had broken the traditional abstinence from meat. The incident reported by an unspecified Adurno Don Scaturro, who, for relief (his) conscience ", claims to have learned that such an expert Telemachus had been seen magna a piñata de turd (thrush) during Lent of 1606 ". To emphasize the desire of the protagonist deliberately transgressive, the reporter says that "said Telemachus not only havea tycoon turd but likewise an omelette of eggs" (sic).
do not know the end of this episode. But, given the rigid discipline of the Church in those days and some references in the document, we can assume that the unwary Telemachus certainly incurred some inconvenience. The Scaturro recalls, in fact, the odyssey of a relative who was accused of having practiced witchcraft, had to travel unnecessarily to Andria Bari and to obtain absolution.
More fortunate, however, was the Archpriest Fr Marcello de Luca, who, in truth, it broke the prohibitions of Lent, but it relates to Easter lunch at the sake of completeness, "This Don Marcello - writes in his chronicle a bit 'the almost gossipy peer Canon Jerome Visagie - of good conversation was man will, of great lepidezza, particularly in the game, the month of April, there was a good and having Tabola a large contract in indigestion pasca year 1710, mocking, mocking, passed in a better life ".
"That's often the world," would say Alessandro Manzoni (Cap.VIII).

Good Jokes At A Church Anniversary

An unprecedented event in the Holy Week of 1934 Molfettese

A cura del prof. Cosmo Tridente.
.
Nell’elenco dei vescovi che si sono avvicendati nella nostra sede episcopale, troviamo Mons. Pasquale Gioia, vescovo della diocesi dal 1921 al 1935.
.
.
native of Santa Croce del Sannio (Benevento), belonged to the order of Somaschi (named after their first foundation in Somasca in the town of Vercurago). He was appointed bishop of Molfetta, Giovinazzo, Terlizzi 30 September 1921, when he was pastor of the church of St. Martin in Velletri, and consecrated by Pope Benedict XV on 1 November that year at the Cathedral of St. Clement of the same city. He made his entrance into our city on Nov. 5 of that year and adopted as a heraldic motto: "mightily and disposing" (strongly and smoothly, or with strength and sweetness).
man was energetic, rigorous and impulsive, intransigent and rigid; quality often aroused antipathy in people that he often went on, lay or clergy, both in public and in private, even during the liturgical functions.
We can say that his episcopate was centered in the construction of four essential points to which he devoted himself with patience and gentleness to be in line with its motto:
1) the construction of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on a soil donated by Domenico Gagliardi;
2) the development of Catholic;
3) treat the religious spirit of the diocese;
4) the realization of inter-newsletter "Light and Life, "whose first issue was born on 11 July 1925.
He died April 1, 1935 and his remains rest in the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which he desired. The grave is marked by an artistic funeral stele, by the sculptor Giulio Cozzoli. In it stands the large medallion bearing the effigy of the bishop in Carrara marble.
During his episcopate, relations with the Confraternity of the deaths were anything but serene. Contrary to the waste in the festivities, as over-attachment to the processions before Easter, Joy Bishop, from the beginning of his episcopal office had tried to implement a downsizing of these traditional rites, acting with determination and dexterity.
An example of such conduct is found in an "edict for Lent 1927, he signed on February 22, 1927. Here is the text:
.
"The Death of the brothers ordered to adjust the processions of the Virgin Mary of Sorrows in the following way. In Friday's passion brought in procession to the group of the Pieta, as if to indicate the theme of the drama of suffering that came to represent. On the night of Friday to Holy Saturday instead lead Our Lady of Sorrows with the cross without Jesus and all other statues with you according to custom, taking care that the procession bait in time to return at the appointed time. "
.
currunt Mala tempora! (bad weather run!) Was said by many that the exhaustive reading and laconic statement bishop. What is the "ratio" of this edict? For Mons.Gioia, the fact that on Holy Saturday is carried in procession on the Dead Christ in the lap of Mother when, according to the chronology of events, was already in the grave, was a frog who could not swallow. On the other hand, the administrators of the dead were adamant in their centuries-old tradition: the Madonna of Friday's passion was and had to be of Sorrows
.
.
Our Lady of Holy Saturday and had to be was the Pieta.
.

's edict of Bishop provoked negative reactions in both the brother of Death, is in the same population of Molfetta. "In the dead cheménnìmme neue, Idde SCESS to cheménné to the prìevete and the muneca de la Cappecciàiene" (In Death commanded us, he went to command the priests and monks of the Capuchin), said the brothers of the black bag. In this uncompromising stance, echoed the general population: "Re precessiàune nen ze chéngene, Ménzegnòre SCESS to cheménné or paiàiese da'ddó to venéute" (The processions are not changed, my lord was going to rule the country whence he comes).

.
Therefore, the order given by the edict was never executed. In later years he could get what the bishop was the half-hour before the time of exit of the procession: that the release of S. Peter at 23 rather than opens at 23.30 and the output of the Pieta rather than opens at 23.30 midnight. In this way the output of the group of the Madonna and Christ in her womb would be returned in chronological time on Friday and Saturday of Easter. But
Mons.Gioia gave for not winning, not resigned to the idea of \u200b\u200bhaving to abandon its innovative proposals so patiently waiting for the moment when he would give checkmate Archconfraternity of Death and the people of Molfetta. And the opportunity presented itself in the Easter of 1934 when Pope Pius XI (born Achille Ratti) concluded the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Redemption opened with a splash "quod Nuper" of January 6, 1933 to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the death and resurrection of Christ. The momentoculminante of that Jubilee was the canonization of St. John Bosco (1815 - 1888), founder of the Salesian congregation.

.
The Confraternity of Death, under the priory Onofrio Vito Binetti, with its own statement, he changed the timing of the processions as follows:

March 23 (Friday of passion) at Exit 18 of Our , following the traditional path;

March 24 (Saturday before Palm Sunday) out of pity and after traveling via death, via the Square, a stretch of the course and return to Dante Cathedral. Here he remained for three days by an animated three days of prayers preached Mons.Vittorio Councilor, Bishop of Ascoli Satriano and Cerignola, former apostolic preaching

March 27 (Holy Tuesday) afternoon at six in the Pietà was reported in the Cathedral the Church of the Purgatorio, Dante along the course, via S. Angelo, Via Sergio Pansini, Via S. Benedict, via S. Domenico, Corso Dante, Purgatory Church. It was a solemn procession, attended by: the bishop, the civil authorities with the mayor Stefano De Dato, the cathedral chapter with the Archdeacon Mons.Felice Carabellese, the Regional Seminar with the Rector Rev. Peter Ossola the diocesan seminary, the Friars Minor of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Martyrs with the Guardian, Padre Gaetano Spina, the Capuchin Fathers, the various Catholic associations and confraternities, and all the clergy;

March 31 (Holy Saturday) to 'a night, out of SS. Our Lady of Sorrows in place of the Pieta, with the other statues venerated in the church of the Purgatory.
At least one Easter, Archbishop Gioia he could claim victory. L 'next year (1935) He died in an attack of angina pectoris. "Dum soul east, spes est" (As long as there 's life there' s hope), would Cicero (Ad Atticum).

"Vexilla regis prodeunt" - known in folklore and historical profile

by prof. Trident Cosmo.
.
" prodeunt Vexilla regis" ("Forward the banner of the King") is the official anthem of the impressive pre-Easter processions that molfettesi revived every year with intense religious faith of the Cross procession (at midnight on the last days of Carnival); procession of (the Friday before Palm Sunday), Procession of the Mysteries (Good Friday); procession of Mercy (Holy Saturday)
. . How
wrote prof. Dionisio Altamura ( prodeunt Vexilla Regis, "Mezzina, Molfetta 1983) Vexilla the noun is a plural poetic Vexilium-i, which is translated in the singular with the meaning of banner, flag, namely the Cross, Regis is the genitive of Rex (Re), namely, Christ, the predicate prodeunt (go on) refers to the fact that the Cross is carried in procession and above.
The hymn consists of seven quatrains in Latin with which enhances the mystery of the Cross ("Cross Fulget mysterium ") and ends with the request to the SS. Trinity, after you have taken the song of praise to bestow the prize of the victory of the Cross ("Cross quibus victoriam / largiris trained Praemium") that is eternal life to all those who know how to get good fruit from the Passion of Christ. Author of the hymn
Venanzio Clemenza Honorius Fortunatus (Latin: Venantius Clementianus Honorius Fortunatus). Born about 530 in Valdobbiadene (Treviso) which is the patron, he studied grammar and rhetoric and law in the near Aquileia to Ravenna. When a student was hit by a serious eye disease, which made him almost blind, but from which he recovered after his cleansing eyes with the oil lamp burning on the altar of the Basilica of San Martino and John Paul at Ravenna. To pay tribute to this saint, Venanzio undertook a long pilgrimage to Tours. In Poitiers knew Radegund, daughter of Bertera, king of Thuringia, with which it formed a deep friendship. Radegund, wife of Clotaire I, he retired to the monastic life after the assassination of his brother (Clotacario) by Clotaire himself. She founded a monastery that became known as Holy Cross in response to a relic of the Holy Cross donated to Radegonda by Justinian II, Emperor of the East. Fortunato was on that occasion that he wrote the "Vexilla Regis prodeunt" and the "Pange lingua glorious" works that are recognized by the Church as the liturgical texts. On the death of Radegund (587) was ordained a priest and assumed the spiritual direction of the convent. In 597 he was appointed bishop. Throughout his life he wrote hymns, essays, funeral elegies, sermons and poems dedicated to the lives of the saints, including St. Martin and Saint Radegund. He died Dec. 14 of 607.
should be noted in passing that after the death of Jesus Christ of the Cross on which he was crucified not heard anything for three centuries. The fact is explainable: the horror that he had left in the minds of the tragedy of the Cross, the Mosaic law, which required that all traces of torture disappeared before Easter, the persecutions which were the facts in Jerusalem apostles and disciples of the Master, the destruction of Jerusalem under the Emperor Vespasian and Titus his son for work, fell away into every search of the Cross.
St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine (306-337), was the woman chosen by God, to implement the divine plan. In a vision, showed her the place of Calvary where he was the Cross of Jesus Jacopo da Voragine, in his "Golden Legend " states that after having found the three crosses, Elena had to put a body on the first cross, and not nothing happened, so for the second cross, but on the third, the corpse came to life, so he knew what was the Cross of Christ, which is variously depicted even the national flags of seven EU countries (UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Greece and Malta).
And speaking of this sacred hymn, I am reminded (word of Carducci) a popular anecdote Molfettese. A brother from the "red bag" named Felice ( Felìsce ), in the great events of Christianity, such as Easter, he preferred to eat turkey meat at the table because - he said - " ind'ò sells u Vicci nén bands crapìcce ( the turkey in your belly is not a tantrum, because of its high digestibility due to the low presence of fat and connective tissue). Little did he care Molfettese ancient tradition of eating lunch in the Easter u cu benedìtte vredìtte (lamb soup with beaten egg). Well, a Good Friday, while the procession passed through the Dead Christ in the darkness of night, by Ament (Old Town), Felice saw eg chembenézeiòene (it happens), a turkey that was perched in a cage in front of a home in ground and taken by an irresistible instinct hungry (as in the past demanded a common religion quite frugal diet for Lent), took it, hiding it beneath the red-shirts tobacco, typical Archconfraternity S. Stefano. It would be rebuilt "incidentally during the Easter lunch, although strong was her desire to break the traditional abstinence from meat and follow the example of such a jolly fellow who had been seen" magna a piñata de turd (thrush) in the During Lent of 1606. "
How and how he could hide the turkey, we do not know, let them deal with it the popular imagination. The fact is that, probably because of the awkward position, he could not conceal the bird perfectly. In fact, one foot out from the underside of the gown (it should be said that the turkey is a gallinaceous with long legs and short wings and tail). A friend's brother, who was in line behind him, having noticed the scene of subterfuge, and wanted to warn him, chanting with the members of St. Stephen at that time elevated the song to Vexilla Dead Christ, "said singing
" Felìsce Abbasciano chémese u / ac if the vèiete Cemb Vicci du "(Happy lowers overall, we see the leg of the turkey). Immediately understood the hint es'affrettò happy to reassure the kind friend, replying: "Pure is bbùene avvesàte about me / us if Noen avédda read arrested (thank goodness I was warned that, otherwise I had to be stopped) The arrest , if there were, would take place just on that street whose name (Ament) takes its name from the word "fine" to mean repair of crime. In fact, here ancient times the criminals suffered the punishment of flogging as "fine" for their misdeeds. But the apparent equanimity
Felice did not last long. In fact, you want the weight ( Vicci du ) that blinked in the lower back, do you want for the terror that someone noticed the crime, the fact is that his legs began to make "James James", ie to have the "jitters" as Leslie Phillips sang in the '60s.
Which is why (always singing the Vexilla notes), " arrevàte sott'alla doors / acchemenzàie to make u strong "(just under the door, began to show off strength). Sott'alla doors is the intersection of routes Annunziata, Lieutenant Spider, Dominic Picca, and Sergio Pansini, where stood a gateway to the second city wall. In this site, in the early hours of the morning, they found farmers and farm workers to plan their daily work activities in the countryside Molfetta).
" Arrevàte 'nnénz'o Pezzelechéne / Tremolo acchemenzàie in the northern (arrived near the well of the dogs began to shake her skirt. Pezzelechéne is the confluence of the streets Cross and Youth and Our Lady of Martyrs, where once in a sinkhole karst (capevìende) is throwing the rabid dogs).
" Arrevàte 'nnénz'o mecìedde / Tremolo acchemenzàie to acìdde u" (come in the vicinity of the slaughterhouse, the bird began to tremble). The municipal slaughterhouse in 1875, located in Via Madonna dei Martiri, is now converted into a local market).
do not know the end of this episode, but we can assume that the unwary Felìsce sooner or later abandon the procession of Christ dead and if they come home, to avoid u Vicci, exhausted from his enforced immobility, could retaliate with an abominable, foul-smelling "legacy" corporal. All's well that ends well, say the wise
The mixture of sacred and profane in this paper should not be regarded as impairing or desecrating the sanctity of the hymn, on which the story is set, it's real or fantasy, or must be considered disrespectful to the story itself, preserved in a long oral tradition.
We know that the people lived intensely the sacred in the making, but outside of the sacred function gives way to an ironic sort of reliving of the sacred itself.
Witness all the stories about St. Peter's such as that relating to the procurement of the ham ( a'ppèrse us ... u Presutti ) or those based on the miracle of transformation of the stones into bread, when Peter took it a little, and adaptation of the stones in stools, when Peter I took a big one.
ironic capacity of the people we have plenty of examples. Even the Roman poet Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli in his sonnet raises the rice with the misunderstanding populate the Latin phrase "secundum magnam tuam Misericordiam," in which "magnam" is perceived as a voice of the verb "magnet" (eat).
The story of the "Vicci" is not detrimental to either the name of Felix, because many names are entered in Molfetta remained in nursery rhymes, which has no recollection of episodes from which they spring, and made to our understanding of children of more than half a century ago. For example
Joseph (O Geséppe / émmìne Roet the / u and Suen cambenìedde and makes the precenìedde Abbate), Gaetano (Caiténe Caiténe the paten ngul'o chen), Antonio (Éndoneie Éndoneie vu do òeve: aun'è mémmet'è u alt'a sorete) Leucio (Send Liuzzi: nu nu spreduzze and shoes), Victoria (Vettoreie Vè cachénn 'and I allecchénne), Giambattista (Gémméttiste nziste nziste bands figs ind'o chénistre) Corrado (Corrado Corradi pees the mméz'a vi), Nicola (Necóele fav'è'ccóele mitte fueco to the pestòele), Chiara (Chiarine chiénd 'Haggi and pitrisìne) ; Donato (the sad houses of Denéte / ci éere zùepp'e us Stena); Onofrio (What bedd Nofarudde bands and u pìdete nén disciples Nudd), Paul (Paolucci Paolucci from a vèieve to chèr'a pacifiers), Leonardo ( Lénérdùcce Lénérdùcce, and calzengìcchie Tarallucci), Anna (E sciùmm'e sciùmm'e sciùmme / cumm Ienni Tenev sciùmme u / u and there nge Scazzi ava / chien chien cumbia Cherri) and others that do not transcribe not to bore the reader. Not for those
molfettesi the rhymes have been afraid to give their children names "sung" with irony: Giuseppe, Gaetano, Antonio, Leuca, Victoria, Giambattista, Corrado, Nicola, Claire, Donato, Onofrio, Paul Leonard, Anna and many others. "The word makes the man free speech is an act of freedom," say Ludwig Feuerbach (The Essence of Christianity ).

U tèmmùrre and the procession of the Cross

by prof. Trident Cosmo.
.
Before the Second World War, as we read about John Minervini ("My country my people" , Edizioni "Edirespa" 1989), the low music of Molfetta was formed by four people: a father and three children . The first, which was the gang leader, played the flute "u frescechétte" and did a solo while the others played "the gréngàsce" (bass drum), "u témmùrre" (drum) and "the zennénné" (plates).
sounded in certain circumstances: for the festivities, for the Christmas holidays, parties of the district. Performed always marches and were wandering the streets of the city, bringing an air of celebration and joy among the people. Almost always, the quartet was preceded by kids, for joy, did somersaults ( zeccamétùgne ).
This complex underwent a variation and instrumental music when he had to perform in the procession of the Cross, Friday Passion and Holy Week, in the sense that the "flat", replaces the trumpet and the reason was to execute the same.

The first release of the quartet was expected, as is the case today in the traditional procession of the Cross, at midnight on the last day of Carnival. Cross the arch of Death is a large Latin cross of black wood. At the junction of vertical and horizontal arm, carries a round with the face of Christ, still living with your eyes open. This according to the preferential use of sacred Western and Oriental art, while not ignoring this iconographic type, prefers represent the face of Christ on the cross already expired, with his eyes closed.
The melody is performed by the original quartet and sad at the same time. At the rhythmic roll of the drum mix hits the bass drum, which combines the subtle sound of the flute, composing a pattern of oriental type, author unknown, tinged with melancholy, the trumpet until he was finally involved with the ups and downs " ti-tea ".
Wanting to make a review of technical and musical reason, we can say that in the roll (without musical key) is the rhythm marked, in that the horn in C major, there is a pattern with precise and safe notes: Mi, Do, Sol, Sol Through the flute (In the key of B flat) is expressed as a melody made of half-tones based on triplets, sixteenth and semibiscroma with a final coda to the trumpet.
Before the "Novus Ordo", approved November 16, 1955 by the Sacred Congregation of Rites, when the output of the processions of Holy Week took place at night, an hour before leaving, "u témmùrre" roamed the main streets, deserted and silent, in order to awaken the brothers who were participating in parades.
The four musicians, describes them as the prof. Mauro Altomare ("Almanac for 1928 shown Molfetta" , Printing De Bari, 1927), are walking slowly, playing with the rhythm and monotonous from time to time they stop with patience, ceasing to play. But a shake of the head of the ruling marks the beginning of recovery of music, and his companions give hand tools, air changes and patient.
Abbot Vito Fornari, around 1885-86 in Naples during a meeting with the lawyer. Francis Peruzzi (son of composer Giuseppe Peruzzi) asked them: "A Molfetta there is still the custom of playing the" you-tea "with fluty and drum?". An affirmative response from the abbot of the Peruzzi expressed a desire to listen to reason, and because the house was a harmonium Fornari, Peruzzi executed on the spot the reason. The Abbot thanked him, saying, "Ciccillo, you gave me a great consolation, you made me relive times of our dear Molfetta.
When he began the procession of the Cross? In no correspondence is the exact year, or at least a decade, in which arose the custom, by the arch of Death, to carry his own cross through the streets in a procession, on the stroke of midnight on Shrove Tuesday, to give a formal start to the season of Lent: warning and a call to the faithful, the transience of life, the inevitability of death and, therefore, call for repentance .. The conjecture more is likely that the procession had begun immediately after 1860 ie after the establishment of the Kingdom of Italy, because in Molfetta establish an atmosphere of liberalization and, in a sense, secularization, compared to the previous situation.
Until the fifties of last century, the procession of the Cross, rather than the beginning of Lent, marks the end of the carnival. At that time, Molfetta, the carnival was a long-awaited date in the year. Meant something explosive, burlesque was a chance to subvert the established order: it is masked by little, we find ourselves in the streets, including a screeching trumpets, throwing colored powders, sugared almond flour. He danced in the streets, we improvised skits such as the wedding procession, in which the "bride" (man in disguise) had a white veil on her head and hands, instead of a bouquet bunch of vegetables, often of radishes. It happened that the "bride" recasse already carrying a baby, or that at the climax came the "legitimate wife", a big man in an advanced state of pregnancy, surrounded by a crowd of children, to surprise the faithless and reduce pain at the party rival umbrella shots.; dances were organized in homes and public places. In the last days of carnival, and especially the last (Shrove Tuesday) the whole city seemed to prey of a general madness. Once a year, for men and women, young and old "was permissible insane."

At midnight the church bells announcing with their sad and mournful tolling the beginning of Lent, calling people to the reality of their earthly condition, recalling the illusory joys of vanity, the brevity of existence, 'inevitable appointment with death. The procession was wandering the streets strewn with confetti, putting to flight the last masks lonely, mournful shoot moths in the womb of the night. When transiting the Cross, the windows still lit went out, in case the music stops, ceased and the dances were not many who, abandoned carnival clothes, followed the procession. The Cross as an exterminating angel passing of unbridled revelry, like a purifying fire dell'inverecondia, dell'immoderatezza which he had indulged in those days. Where it did not come, comes the echo of the sound of the trumpet: universal, apocalyptic, like the revival of the dead at the end of the world.
Now, in the new style inaugurated by the Catholic Church, according to the dictates of Vatican II, the procession of the Cross has lost that tone scorante, imposition of penalties, to take on the penitential nature, trusting and comforting of all believers. At this point it seems
should conclude with a thought of Don Tonino Bello, on which we should all reflect: "There is none of us who do not speak eloquently of the" holy wood "or that in Lent do not sing with all your soul" Vexilla regis, "or that Good Friday is not singing the anthem to the" Crux fidelis ". The cross remains central to our perspective. But we will turn off. Too off. We take an extramural distant from the hill where it stands. It 's like when traveling, you touch a city via the ring road. While running the car on the road, sometimes you give a look at the towers that rise and towers that rise. But then it all ends there. Unfortunately, our Christian life does not cross to Calvary. Not climbs on switchbacks of Golgotha. Skip to smear the slopes of the place of the skull. The cross we attacked it with reverence to the walls of our house, but there are planted in the heart dangling from our necks, but not hanging over our choices: The turn bowing and incense in church, but we keep the polar opposite of his logic. We have to admit bitterly. We chose the ring and not the trail of Calvary. We need to be reconciled with the cross and find, on the road map of our existence pagan, the ramp that leads right to the feet of the offender, ".

Two typical characters of Lent Molfettese

by prof. Trident Cosmo.

NB - In the dialect vocabulary "and" unstressed should not be viewed. The first is

Berardino Claudio, alias Vardìnë (born 1906), died on 03.01.1990, which was operating as sacristan (sagresténe) in the Church of Purgatory where the headquarters of the Confraternity of the Black Death was in the bag dean of the sacristy Molfetta, a po'collerico character, who boasted to continue the work of his great-grandfather.
Gerardo de Marco ("Molfetta Nostra", February 1978) describes it thus: "He knew everything and the arch of the old Molfetta and wrote notes on a big rough draft, notes, memories, facts accompanied by newspaper clippings. This book, he said, will be donated to the Biblioteca Comunale "Panunzio" after my death. On the evening of Shrove Tuesday, before the procession of the Cross, appeared on the platform of Purgatory Vardinë to impart the necessary instructions to the carriers, and even with those torches or tèmmurre. Its activity is reflected regularly on certain days of Lent, when he was struggling with the sevenfold Addolorata and to set up the tomb, which takes some effort in arranging the statues, votive candles, flowers, drapes. Preferred to work alone, without anyone's introduction. On these occasions he wore a black shirt (nd: a bit 'messy) and tied to his waist he wore a noisy bunch of keys. "
.
As the statues in a procession from the church came out of Purgatory, he was always in the foreground with arms outstretched and hands clutching the front of the apples "poles" to give the ' pace of their respective holders, with which sometimes clashed verbally until you reach "and there I know you tàue Aie" (who you are and who I am), because for them, at that time, was an intruder. I would note on Holy Saturday 1961, when the output of the statue of Mary of Cleophas (Cleopas or Cleofe or) Prior to the pro-tempore of the arch Death, Joseph Trident (my uncle) had to intervene to quell a lively argument between the carriers (members of the Confraternity of the Purification), and the sacristan, "Vardìnë Nenz to the leaven of piety about them dè fastìdeie! (Vardìnë get out of the way that you give us trouble!)-Bearers said. " "Cé de Ca is firm, veseràie? Mó there handkerchief trasàie ind'alla chiéseie (Purgatorio), and there handkerchief assàie comm'a the cresteiéne, quénd'évvéiere Criste about or worthy of nemené zo! What mèieche avàit'a straight Fela! " (What did you say, sir? "Now I'll return to church and I'll come out as Christians, it is true that Christ is not worthy of mention! With you spin me right!) - Replied indignantly and red in the face, Vardìnë, actively engaged because everything could proceed in the maximum-order. "Nen Segneri faith in nesciàune pagàure worse! If ddìsse Pezzarìedde? - A cache ngiu us "(You do not scare anyone! You know who said Pizzarello? - Who cares!) Was the answer, quite trivial, the holders of which had nervously abide by its directives, the carrying out of the church Purgatory one of eight Cozzoli masterpieces, including the venerable.

The second character is John Camporeale, alias Giovénnë (born 1930), still alive, sacristan of the church of SS. Trinity (better known as the Church of St. Anna by the name of the saint venerated there) and of the adjacent church of St. Stephen (the parrecchiédde), where the headquarters of the Confraternity of the same name from the red bag. For over 60 years he devoted himself passionately to prepare the liturgy, sang hymns of novenas in honor of St. Anna and the Visitation of Holy Mary. and what all are waiting for a Molfetta year: Lent, the tomb and the processions of Holy Week. In the church of St. Stephen has set up about 50 graves with the five mysteries laid up and kept giving each other meaning. His is also a collection of statues sacred subject, a valuable collection of local crafts ranging from 900 up to the early '50s. He was responsible for many merits, but the larger one was, thanks to his jovial nature, to have convinced many people to engage in worship and devotion to the Saints. The proof of this is the considerable number of members of the Confraternity of the Visitation, in the jargon sesserrìste (whispering in the sense of confidentiality and discretion that once characterized the association), for which it was used for about 45 years, going to the homes of the members of the pious to collect the annual membership. The story of the fraternities and popular traditions Molfetta, are his major interests during leisure time.
.
Recently, for reasons of health, Giovénnë had to give up his work as a sacristan why do not we see more, as was the custom, and sat quietly next to the door of friendly Church of St. Anna to converse with friends and acquaintances, until they started the sacred duties. We regret that his departure Scene memories are lost, trivia, facts and figures that he, calm and seraphic, he told those who love popular culture and religion of Molfetta.
These are two myths that are part of the "gallery" of the typical characters of a spiritual life of the country, two people who really loved their service with "the house where the Lord dwells and the place where his glory dwells "(from Psalm 25:8).
For news on John sacristan, I used the help of his son, Cosma Damiano Camporeale, to which I express my gratitude. A proper thanks also to Dr. address. Francesco Stanzione, Prior Archconfraternity of Death, for giving me some photos of 1973, drawn from his archive, which recognizes Vardìnë.

Lenten Traditions and Rituals disappeared

by prof. Trident Cosmo.
.
The older people remember that in 1955, as Pope Pius XII, papal rescript of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, was published "Novus Ordo" which reformed the liturgical services of Holy Week. In addition to changes in the duration and conduct, stating that the functions of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Easter did not have more place in the morning hours, but in the afternoon, with regard to the Thursday and Friday and, for As regards the Holy Saturday night hours in order to allow the "Easter vigil, as indeed happened according to the oldest tradition of the early centuries of Christianity.
.
Retreat of Piety (1930)
.
What appeared a revolutionary innovation, produced a series of innovative changes since 1956 is caused by the way of life that necessarily is renewed wave of regeneration is that the Church has riots with the advent of the Second Vatican Council, which began by Pope John XXIII.
There are many things missing. The abolition of the "Time Septuagesima" included the three weeks immediately preceding Lent, which is Septuagesima, and Sexagesima Quinquagesima. This was once considered as a preparatory period of Lent. In the present form of the Roman Rite, the time Septuagesima has given way to "Ordinary Time". The deletion in commissioning of the 'Hallelujah' ("Hallelujah" means "Praise God" , its etymology goes back to two Jewish roots "hallelû" = praise and "Jah" = God) and "Gloria in excelsis" and the introduction in vestments of purple (purple is a color that indicates a time of waiting and preparation), the veiling of sacred images, the disappearance of the chapel where the Holy Thursday is set up the altar of repose of the crowns of thorns or other sign of the Passion, since the Repository is where you put the Eucharist, of which we celebrate the institution and not the burial place of Jesus; the stripping of the altar after Mass in the "Last Supper" in remembrance of the denudation of Jesus made by the soldiers before his crucifixion.
adoration of the Cross, the same is brought to the altar already discovered, no longer hidden by a veil of blue, so the unveiling of the Cross took place in three stages: the upper, right arm, the entire remainder, while the celebrant intoned "Ecce lignum Crucis, in quo salus mundi pependit ..." (Behold the wood of the Cross, who was suspended the salvation of the world ... ") and the choir responded," Come, adoremus "(Come, adore). Before
Novus Ordo to the faithful who had attended the celebration of the liturgical function of Good Friday, Holy Communion was not distributed. The only was the celebrating priest to communicate with the host that had been consecrated the previous day and locked ballot altar of Repose.
Another custom was to decorate the Tomb (the sebbùlche) of churches with which he could sprout in dishes, a few months ago, seeds of wheat, lupins and lentils. The bundles of long stems were tied with colorful ribbons and carried in the repositories. In some churches the rite of the dishes seem to revive.
With the arrival of Lent, the traditional family were preparing to clean their homes, making a mess all over the environment home in order to prepare to worthily receive the Passover with the innovative spirit of faith and cleaning.
Half Lent (the Thursday before the fourth Sunday of Lent) families gathered in the country to break a clay container (the pledge) that was filled with néuesce (walnuts), necìedde (Nocelle) , Faic dried (dried figs), Castlewellan du Prevete (chestnuts from the priest), lepàiene (lupins), cìcere and beans (chickpeas and roasted beans) and, over time, including candies and chocolates . So full, the pot was suspended a couple of feet off the ground and the adults, blindfolded and armed with sticks, they had to try to break it for the entertainment of children. This custom was the excuse to spend outdoors in spring and eat together u calzòene, a fried fish cake stuffed with barbed (nuzzo the stub) , onions (cepòdde spenzale) , pitted olives, cauliflower. It is a culinary specialty that still exists but has lost its symbolism of Lent as a "calzone" you can buy in various bakeries in all months of the year. In the old town
(ind 'the Earth) was exposed the Quarantania (the quaréndéne) . It was a puppet hunched, dressed in black, which was hanging by a rope and symbolized Lent. At the foot of this puppet will put an orange or a potato in which they had strung seven goose feathers: these were the seven weeks that separate from the Easter Carnival. At the end of each week he removed a pen which, with the arrival of Holy Week, the orange or potato remained completely plucked and the puppet was burned in the presence of cheering crowds. About
anthropological interpretation of this grotesque figure, in many places the Apulian Quarantania is considered the wife of the pleasure-seeking and Carnival revelers, whose violent death she was forced, of course, in mourning, made of food deprivation and sexual necessary not only to comply with the rules related to its status as a widow, but also to address the misdeeds and excesses of the late lamented his husband. "
Quarantania Once the appearance of the streets was the beginning of fasting and abstinence rituals. For all the tables were banned meat and sausages. In their place was admitted consumption of vegetables, fish and cod, the latter, cooked over charcoal and seasoned with olive oil, lemon and pepper. The Friday of Lent instead were for the most devoted, like Friday, a day of fasting and commemoration the Passion and Death of Christ.
During Holy Week, the children were playing in the street or shouting because adults urged them to keep quiet because Christ had died. On Thursday, Friday and Holy Saturday, RAI suspended the normal radio programming (the TV does not yet exist) and transmitting sacred music or symphony as a sign of mourning. For me it was a real penance in those days did not listen to the renowned orchestras directed by Armando and Cynic Fragna Angelini, with singer Carla Boni, Gino Latilla, the Duo Fasano, Jose Negroni, Clara Iaione, Nilla Pizzi, Victoria and other Mongardi .
Sometimes, particularly in the historic center, you could hear cries of pain and despair in step of Mercy, from women oppressed by some family drama: Médonne Ndelórate aiùteme! (Our Lady of Sorrows help me!) Médonne Ndelórate me the grace! (Our Lady of Sorrows me the grace!) Médonne Ndelórate abbéndenénne or me yes! (Our Lady of Sorrows forsake me not!) Médonne Ndelórate tàue self righteous king! (Our Lady of Sorrows you know the truth!).

The Pietà in via Square at 2.00 on Holy Saturday

(50s)

The statue of the Dead Christ, during the procession on Good Friday, stood in the cathedral church of St. Peter, the Cathedral, the church of San Domenico and 's Immaculate where they performed some chanting and singing the "Vexilla regis prodeunt.
Along the processional route, traders, switch off their neon signs and lowered to half the shutters of their shops as a mark of respect. The butchers retreated temporarily, within their store site and lambs slaughtered, displayed in plain sight. Now this view, a bit 'creepy, let us say, but we are spared the fate of the poor animals did not appear to be much changed: they will end, made of grilled or baked potatoes and peas on the Easter table
When the Pietà in the church was part of Purgatory, the people prayed and pleaded: Médonn'a blessed, cuss'énne t'émme views, you ca spériéme vedìmme u-year-old is about! (Blessed Virgin Mary, this year we've seen you, hope to see you next year!). Close
drum (u témmurre) , placed himself in a seller of sugary tarallini (tarall'è pumpkin) hanging in clumps with a wooden triangle, raised from an auction. The triangle representing symbolically the arrow, ie, the geometric shape of the triangle on which is still in the church of Santo Stefano, facing the candles are extinguished one by one at the end of each psalm singing.

saettiera of the 'Confraternity of SS. Crucifix

(Sessa Aurunca - CE)

the Easter Vigil, with the melting of the bells was customary to leave the Cathedral of the doves as a sign of peace. The sirens of the factories and ships anchored at the port, and her yelling at people on the street they changed greetings announcing: Av'abbevescèauete Christ ... Av'abbevescèauete Christ ...
There is no doubt that the tradition is renewed. In fact, bears the traces of its past is sweet to remember in future days, would say Virgil (Aeneid I, 203): "Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit" .
